Mary's parentage and place of origin are unknown. Her name may have been Margaret. She may have been from canton Aargau; her son August may have been born there. The flag of the canton is shown here.

Her year of birth is based on her age given in the 1850 census, although this would mean that she had her youngest child at age 47.

Mary married John L. Fisher before 1809, presumably in Switzerland.

Between 1809 and 1828, John and Mary had eight children (although two obituaries for August Fisher put the number at six and seven, respectively):

  1. Maria Anna (25 Dec 1809 - 7 Apr 1894)
    She married Gregory Keeler (1805-1880)
  2. George (Feb 1811 - 8 May 1894)
He married Bridget Knecht Yetzer (1820 -1900)
    George worked as a farmer.
  3. August (7 Jul 1815 - 28 Feb 1903)
    He married Agatha Shuble (1832-1892)
    August worked as a farmer.
  4. Gabriel (ca 1820 - aft 1880)
    He worked as a farmer.
  5. Catherine (b. ca 1823)
  6. Casper (8 Oct 1823 - 30 Dec 1907)
He married Johanna (Hannah) Most (1832-1888)
Casper worked as a blacksmith in Crestline, Ohio.
  7. Joseph (b. ca 1826)
    He worked as a blacksmith.
  8. John (b. ca 1828)
    He married Mary (b. 1836)
    John worked as a farmer.

Although Mary's children arrived in Baltimore on 30 June 1833, her name doesn't appear with theirs in the passenger arrivals for that date.

Mary appears in the 1840 census for Sharon Township, Richland County, Ohio. She was living with several of her children, although her husband is not listed, so he may have died before then. Mary also appears with some of her children in the 1850 census.
