Theodora's parentage is unknown. Her maiden name
may have been Hogankamp, although another source
states that her name was Dorthea Mispelkamp. She
was born in Hemden.
Theodora married Johannes Henrich
Meyering on 15 November 1765, probably in Bocholt. The coat of arms of the town is
shown here.
Between 1766 and 1772, Johannes and Theodora had five
children:
- Anna Hendrina (b. 17 Jun 1766)
She married Joseph Schröer
- Wesselius (21 Oct
1767 - 15 Jun 1852)
He married (Johanna) Wilhelmine Bubing
- Joanna Christina (b. 17 Mar 1769)
She married Johann Rudolph Wilting
- Elisabeth (b. 1 Dec 1770)
- Hermann Johannes (31 Jan 1772 - 14 Apr 1846)
He married Ann Gertrud Büssing (1769-1845)
Three of Hermann and Ann's children emigrated to America:
- Henrich Anton "Henry" Meyering (1798-1866), who married Ludovica "Maria Louise" Glaser (1795-1854). The family emigrated in 1845, and lived in Rochester, New York.
- Joanna Henrina Elizabeth Meyering (b. 1804), who married Johann Bernard Effing. They lived in Rochester, New York.
- Maria Christina Meyering (b. 1810), who married Gerhard Heinrich Niewerde. The family emigrated in 1846, and lived in Rochester, New York.
Three of Hermann and Ann's grandchildren [the children of Johanna Catherina Meyering (1799-1846) and Johann Henrich Nientimp] also emigrated to America:
- Gertrudis Theodora Nientimp (b. 1826), who married Johann Hermann Von Aalten and John Blum. Gertrudis lived in Dansvillle, Livingston Co., New York.
- Ignatius Henricus "Ignatz" Nientimp (1833-1885), who married Rosina Alfing. They lived in Rochester, New York.
- Joseph Henrich "Louis" Nientimp (1840-1920). He emigrated in 1854, and married Louisa Florack. They lived in Rochester, New York.
Johannes and Theodora's second child was born in Lowick, so the family may have lived
there.
Theodora died at age 74.
