Jakobus was the eldest of seven children of Johann Peter Wagener and Margaretha Hans.
He was a farmer, and also served as the mayor of Bliesen. The coat of arms of the village is shown here.
Jakobus married Anna Maria Schmidt before 1751, probably in Bliesen.
Between 1751 and 1773, Jakobus and Anna had eight children, including Johannes Wagner.
Jakobus died at age 71.
