John L. Fisher Born: unknown (possibly) canton Aargau, Switzerland Died: before 1840? America?

John's parentage is unknown. His name appears in the obituary of his son August, although another source gives his name as Jacob.

John's place of origin is unknown. His son's obituary from 1903 states that August was born "in Remica, near the Rhine, in Switzerland." No such place exists, but "Remica" might be a corruption of "Remigen," which is in canton Aargau, and ten kilometers from the Rhine. If this is correct, then John may have been from this town. John married Mary before 1809, presumably in Switzerland.

Between 1809 and 1828, John and Mary had eight children, including Maria Anna Fisher.

Although John's children arrived in Baltimore on 30 June 1833, his name doesn't appear with theirs in the passenger arrivals for that date.

John doesn't appear with his family in the 1840 census, so he may have died before then.
