Jacob was the eldest of seven children of Sebastian Bertele and his second wife, Ann Ginthär. He was confirmed in 1713 at the age of eight.
Jacob married Maria Strobler on 26 April 1742 in Langenargen. The coat of arms of the town is shown here.
In 1747, Jacob and Maria had Joseph Bertele.
Jacob died at age 51.
