Cunigunda was the eldest of ten surviving children
of Georg Zenk and
Barbara Dumbrof. She was
born in Schweisdorf. The flag
shown here is the Bavarian state flag.
Cunigunda married Johann
Deppman on 25 January 1847 in Lohndorf, Bavaria.
Between 1849 and 1869, Johann and Cunigunda had eleven
children:
- Maria Margaretha
(Margaret) (15 Jan 1849 - 7 Apr 1926)
She married Gebhard Carl Bartley
(1844-1919)
- Anna Maria (Mary) (b. 28 Jun 1850)
She married Peter Anderson
- Johann (John) (b. 19 Jan 1853)
He married Josephine T. Jones
- Michael [Dippman] (25 Aug 1855 - 22 Mar
1928)
He married Maria Theresia (Mary) Fleitz (1860-1935)
Michael worked as farmer.
- Margaretha (Maggie) (b. 19 Jan 1858)
She married Eugene Mauder
- Georg (Georg) (14 Apr 1860 - 27 Mar
1889)
He married Ophelia Mae Collins (1863-1928)
- Martin (22 Mar 1862 - 27 Mar 1862)
He died in infancy.
- Cunigunda (29 Jul 1863 - 3 Aug 1863)
She died in infancy.
- Georg Josef (Joseph) (27 Aug 1864 - 3 Apr
1947)
married Phoebe A. Hall (1863-1940)
Joseph worked as farmer.
- Pancraz Joseph (b. 26 Nov 1866)
- John B. (1868/69 - 24 Oct 1889)
He became mentally ill, and was committed to the Toledo Asylum for
the Insane in April 1888, where he died.
The children were born in Tiefenellern, so the family lived
there during this period.
Cunigunda's husband emigrated in 1869, and in July 1870, she and
eight of her children received permission to travel to America.
However, she does not appear with her children on the
Abyssinia passenger
list. In addition, her youngest child, John B., is not mentioned in
the Bavarian records. She may have emigrated with this child at a
later date.
A medical report for John lists "loss of parents while young" as
a predisposing cause for his illness, which suggests that Cunigunda
died before 1888.
