Johann was the youngest of three surviving
children of Petrus Creutz
and Maria Barbara Thiel.
He worked as a farmer.
Johann first married Maria
Haben on 13 May 1788 in Bliesen. The picture shows the coat of
arms of the village.
Between 1789 and 1794, Johann and Maria had three children, including Johannes
Kreutz.
After Maria's death, Johann remarried to Catharina
Frantz (3 Sep 1777 - 4 Mar 1813). She was the daughter of
Johannes Frantz and Maria
Gillen. They married on 20 January 1795 in Bliesen.
Between 1796 and 1813, Johann and Catharina had ten
children:
- Anna Maria (22 Jul 1796 - 17 Jan 1878)
She married Nicolaus Biegel (1792-1848)
- Catharina (14 Jan 1798 - 4 Oct 1813)
She died at the age of fifteen.
- Anna (8 Nov 1799 - 9 Sep 1803)
She died at the age of three.
- Maria (16 Feb 1801 - 17 Feb 1823)
She married Johann Nikolaus Wagner (1799-1861)
- Johann Nicolaus (2 Jul 1803 - 27 Apr
1860)
He married Anna Maria Biegel (1800-1847)
- Elisabeth (15 Oct 1805 - 19 Sep 1891)
She married Jakob Klein (1799-1878)
- Peter (b. 18 Jul 1808)
He married Elisabeth Collett (b. ca 1808)
- Michel (19 Feb 1811 - 13 Jan 1812)
He died in infancy.
- Anna {twin} (b. 28 Feb 1813)
- Margaretha {twin} (28 Feb 1813 - 1 Mar
1813)
She died the day after she was born.
Johann's date and place of death are unknown. Catharina died at
age 35, four days after delivering twins. As with Johann's first
wife, the probable cause was complications from childbirth.
