Peter was the fourth of five surviving children of Peter Kreutz and Elisabeth Gillen, who lived in Bliesen. His father died was he was 21 years old.
In April 1889, at the age of 25, Peter emigrated to America, along with his brother Jacob, Jacob's wife, and their infant daughter. (Before emigrating, Peter injured his arm, and to avoid being sent back, he covered his arm with a coat to conceal the injury.) They were passengers on the steamship Noordland, which departed from Antwerp, Belgium. The ship arrived at New York City on 21 April, after a voyage of fourteen days. Peter and Jacob settled in Raabs, Ohio.
Peter married Mary Gillen, his second cousin, once removed, on 4 November 1893 at St. Mary's in Assumption, Ohio. The witnesses were Jacob Feidt (a neighbor and friend) and Catherine Gillen.
Peter and Mary first lived on Bancroft Road between County Line Road and State Route 295.
Between 1894 and 1918, Peter and Mary had thirteen children, including Lawrence Frank (Noe) Kreuz.
He made his declaration of intention for US citizenship on 14 June 1895 and became a naturalized citizen on 19 October 1899.
On 26 July 1904, Peter bought an 80-acre family farm from Catherine Pitson for $6,000. It was located on the north side of Frankfort Road between Lathrop and State Route 295.
Peter is said to have had a crooked finger, and was always smoking a cigar.
Peter died at age 56 from mitral insufficiency, and was buried on 4 February 1920 in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Raabs.
