Frank was the eldest of three surviving children of Nikolaus Kreuz (1825-1901), the son of Johannes Kreutz and Elisabeth Gillen, and his second wife, Anna Maria Gillen (1842-1920), the daughter of Johannes Gillen and Elisabeth Wagner.
Frank emigrated in 1888, and settled in California. The state flag of California is shown here.
A letter in the possession of Werner Hans of Bliesen was written by Frank to his parents in Germany in December 1895. He reported that he had been working in San Francisco, but that he had been asked by his employer to watch over his summer residence in Napa, California, and was now living there. His duties included taking care of a flower garden and some horses.
He appears in the 1900 census for San Francisco, living as a boarder on 26th Street. He was employed as a bartender.
Frank married Elizabeth Anna Schalk (4 Jan 1870 - 23 Nov 1943) in 1902, presumably in San Francisco. She was from Frankfurt am Main.
Between 1902 and 1910, Frank and Elizabeth had three daughters:
The family appears in the 1910 census for San Francisco. Frank was renting a house on Mission Street, and working as a teamster with building materials.
Elizabeth died at age 73, and Frank died four years later at age 82.
